SB 28 Signed by Governor Daniels |

Governor Daniels signed SB 28 into effect on April 21. The new law establishes reduced ignition propensity standards for cigarettes. The law authorizes the State Fire Marshal, Department of Revenue, and the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission to monitor and enforce the standards and provides for certification fees and penalties.

Cancer Foundation and MagneGrip Join Forces |

The Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation and The MagneGrip Group (Air Cleaning Specialists – Distributor) are working together to help extinguish fire fighter cancer. The Foundation provides education to alert fire fighters to the cancer-causing exposures in their occupation, and it advocates for cancer research and presumptive legislation. It also helps active and retired fire fighters who have cancer by providing resource information and assistance during treatment. The MagneGrip Group, a leader in providing 100% effective exhaust extraction systems and air purification systems for firehouses, provides support for the Foundation’s programs. This partnership will help fire fighters benefit from the Foundation’s work and take preventive measures to reduce cancer risks that are prevalent in their occupation.

Call for Personal Time Off Policy |

The City of Greencastle is looking into implementing a Personal Time off (PTO) policy. We currently have a policy that outlines Vacation, Personal Days and Sick Days and the City is looking into combining all of the above benefit days into PTO time. (Any pro’s or con’s would be appreciated)
