The Technical Rescue Section if the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association is tasked with the mission to standardize
all technical rescue disciplines, as well as integrate and assure interoperability while performing response, rescue
and recovery actions.
It is further our mission to provide rapid and sustainable heavy rescue components not readily available
to a local jurisdiction. This is provided by a tiered arrangement of strategically located resources, with
varying levels of operational readiness:
Local Resources: A technical Rescue Team located within a jurisdiction or mutual aid jurisdiction.
District Technical Rescue Team: Provide specific heavy rescue capabilities and are capable of deploying
within 30 minutes of notification. They are designed to deliver 36
members for rapid response, and are sustainable for 24 hours.
Indiana Task Force One: Located at the Indianapolis International Airport and capable of deploying
within 2 hours of notification, INTF-1 provides self-sufficient heavy rescue
capability for a minimum of 72 hours. INTF-1 is designed to deliver 80 members
for at least 10 days with little outside assistance.
Technical Rescue for the State of Indiana can have an integrated response, incorporating various agencies,
as well as different levels of response, based on conditions and resources available.
