Adam Farrar is the Fire Chief of the Vanderburgh County Fire Department in Evansville, IN, formerly Scott Township Fire & EMS. With over 24 years of experience in the fire service, he has served in both volunteer and combination fire departments, holding ranks in both volunteer and career structures. Adam began as a volunteer with the Wadesville Fire Department in Wadesville, IN, and later joined the Vanderburgh County Fire Department as a career firefighter.
In January 2015, Adam was appointed Fire Chief of Scott Township Fire Department following the retirement of the previous chief. He has remained in this leadership role through two rebranding’s and one merger. The merger will be completed in July 2025. Adam holds an Associate of Science in Fire Science, an Associate of Science in Business Management, a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration, and a master’s in public administration. He possesses multiple State of Indiana fire and EMS certifications and is a Nationally Registered Paramedic. In April 2021, he was credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer (CFO) by the Commission on Professional Credentialing and re-credentialed in 2024. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Association of Fire Chiefs, International Society of Fire Service Instructors, and the National Fire Protection Association, among others. Currently, Adam serves as the President of the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association. Outside of his professional life, Adam is a proud father to three sons: Brady (15), Chase (11), and Gabriel (6). In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, especially his sons' games, and cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers and St. Louis Cardinals. |
